MONO VPN on Android: sing-box, MONO VPN app and SSTP

On Android, MONO VPN profiles are imported into clients from this page. For NaiveProxy this is a sing-box. For SSTP - official APK MONO VPN or OPEN SSTP / SSTP MAX.

Two protocols - different applications

NaiveProxy — sing-box

Default profile. Importing a link from your account into sing-box. It makes sense for the network to filter recognizable VPN packets.

SSTP — MONO VPN APK

Official installation file: MONO VPN.apk on monovpn.app. Alternatives: OPEN SSTP and SSTP MAX. For them, take the data from the “Profile” page and set MTU and MRU = 1400.

Download clients from the instructions page in your account, from monovpn.app or from the stores it links to. Access bot - @monosvpn_bot.

Setup steps

1. Account

After signing up, select “3 days” and choose “Continue for free”. Get 3 days of access with no payment card or mandatory channel subscription. Your NaiveProxy profile, backup SSTP profile and setup guides will appear in your account.

2. Protocol

Start with NaiveProxy. If the import or session fails, switch to SSTP in the same account.

3. Import

Open the link in the desired client. Android will ask for permission to use the VPN; without it, the tunnel will not open.

4. Check

See the status in the client. If there is an error, update the profile, check that the battery is not killing the application, try the second protocol.

Notes on Android

Manufacturers often limit autostart. If the VPN drops off after sleep, exclude the client from strict battery saving.

When installing the APK, open the file from https://monovpn.app/. APK - for SSTP; NaiveProxy comes in sing-box. These are different protocols.

An Android phone and tablet can share the same account with an iPhone or Windows.

Diagnostics

  • Access to your account is active.
  • The client matches the protocol (sing-box for NaiveProxy, SSTP application for SSTP).
  • The link is fresh.
  • For OPEN SSTP / SSTP MAX MTU and MRU are set to 1400.

Why multiple apps?

On Android, one protocol can be raised by several clients. Sing-box is selected for NaiveProxy. There is an official APK for SSTP and two named alternatives. MTU and MRU 1400 for OPEN SSTP and SSTP MAX help the session suffer less from fragmentation.
