VPN for Telegram: connection, bot and proxy
VPN for Telegram and VPN via Telegram bot are two different things. In the first case, the application on the device creates the connection. In the second, the bot helps you open your account and get a profile. MONO VPN supports both scenarios: the account is available on the website and in @monosvpn_bot.
What does Telegram bot MONO do
Official @monosvpn_bot opens Mini App with subscription, profiles and instructions. The bot does not redirect Internet traffic and does not enable VPN itself.
To connect, you need a client on your phone or computer. NaiveProxy and SSTP are available in the MONO subscription. The page tells about the work of the account inside the messenger MONO VPN in Telegram.
How to connect Telegram via VPN
- If Telegram does not open, start with monovpn.app in the browser. For an existing subscription, use the already linked login method. A new method without linking can open another account.
- Check that access is active. For the trial period, select “3 days” and confirm “Continue for free” - without linking a card.
- Install the client for your device and import the profile from your account: iPhone, Android, Windows or macOS.
- Enable VPN on the client. If it is configured for traffic separation, make sure that Telegram is not excluded from the VPN route.
- Open Telegram and check sending a message, downloading media and, if necessary, making a call. Successful text delivery does not confirm the quality of calls.
VPN and MTProto proxy: what is the difference
MTProto proxy is configured inside Telegram and relates to the connection of this application. The VPN client can route traffic from other applications through its connection if the appropriate mode is selected. Telegram proxy does not replace VPN for the browser and other programs.
The NaiveProxy or SSTP profile cannot be inserted into the Telegram MTProto proxy field: these are different protocols and configuration methods. MONO issues profiles for compatible clients; take settings from your account, and not from a random list of “keys”.

If messages work but media or calls don't
Check if the connection is enabled and compare the work via Wi-Fi and mobile network. See if Telegram is excluded from routing. If Telegram's built-in proxy is enabled at the same time, temporarily disable it to test one VPN connection.
Message, media and call availability may vary. It varies by network, client, and route; Universal operation in all conditions cannot be promised. The sequence of checks is compiled in instructions when VPN fails.
